Chromium-GTF 200 is a trace element supplement that contains chromium bound to nicotinic acid. Each capsule provides 200 mcg of chromium in its non-toxic trivalent form.

Chromium is generally accepted as an essential trace mineral that potentiates insulin action and thus influences carbohydrate, protein, and fat metabolism. The biologically active form of chromium, sometimes called glucose tolerance factor (GTF),occurs naturally in brewers yeast. GTF has been proposed to be a complex of chromium, nicotinic acid (vitamin B3), and possibly the amino acidsglycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. The most promising approach to naturalGTF is chromium polynicotinate, the active form ofchromium in ChromeMate. Studies havedemonstrated that chromium from ChromeMate has a higherbioavailability than other chromium compounds, such aschromium picolinate or chloride. Tissues retained anywherefrom 2 to 8 times more chromium from ChromeMate comparedto chromium picolinate or chromium chloride.
